Tamba is known as one of the six ancient pottery centers in Japan, and kilns have fired there for over 800 years.  Every year on the third weekend of October, the Tamba-Tachikui pottery fair is held.  The entire pottery village opens its doors, and kilns, to visitors interested in the rustic charm of Tamba ware.
