Description
A striking iron glazed (tetsu-yū) stoneware tea ceremony bowl with high-relief designs by mingei potter Kawai Tōru. He is the grandnephew of Kawai Kanjiro and the last to study under the legendary master.
Over the years, Kawai Tōru has refined his own particular style of pottery - one that emphasizes clean lines and complex geometric forms. Upwardly twisting facets (mentori), swirling vortexes, and flared rims are the trademarks of his craft and show a level of technical skill unseen in the works of former mingei masters.
A wooden presentation box will be custom made to order and signed by the artist. Delivery time for this item is 2 weeks.
A fukusa display cloth is included.
