Description
This vase by Wada Tōzan is wood fired at Ōizumi-gama in the haikaburi (lit. "ash covered") technique. It was lain on one side around the ash pit of the kiln. At a temperature of 1,250°C (2,300°F), swirling red pine and cedar embers settled on the top and melted down the sides.
What arose from the ashes is a striking piece imbued with the raw energy of kiln dynamics and the incidental markings that only wood-fired pottery can exhibit.
Ideal for small arrangements or the display of a solitary flower.
Upon order, a brass hanging ring will be affixed to the vase. A wooden presentation box will be also be custom made to order and signed by the artist. Delivery time for this item is 2 weeks.
