Description
Through constant experimentation and refinement, Kamada Kōji has produced a number of glazes over the years, each one further adding to the breadth and brilliance of his tenmoku artistry.
This inspired pottery wall decoration (tōhan) is done in a variation of the artist's signature ginshō tenmoku. The high iron content in the glaze gives the piece a distinctive brushed metal-like finish with a figurative mountain range (renzan) rendered in darker cobalt blue. Golden highlights around the edges add a sense of refined luxury.
The ideal wall accessory for any contemporary or minimalist décor.
Kamada Kōji's tenmoku works are held in private collections around the world and, in 2005, were acquired by New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art for display in their Asian Art collection.
