Description
This handsome saké cup by Wada Tōzan was fired at Ōizumi-gama - the Wada family's noborigama climbing kiln. It is a proud example of the kind of yōhen effects that only wood-fired pottery can exhibit. At a peak temperature of 1,250°C (2,300°F) degrees, the surface of the unglazed clay became forever heat changed, forming a number of subtle gradations. It makes a fine addition to any saké vessel collection.
