Description
This striking iron-glazed saké cup by Wada Tōzan was fired at Ōizumi-gama - the Wada family's wood-burning noborigama climbing kiln. At 1,250°C (2,300°F) degrees, it was plucked from the kiln while still molten-hot and allowed to cool. By doing this, the iron content (tetsu-yū) quickly oxidizes, forming an obsidian landscape marked by the dynamics inside Ōizumi-gama.
For the saké connoisseur.
